Spend VS Save: Mascaras ♡

There are a lot of amazing products at the drugstore. But here is also something very special about buying high end products. Boots and Superdrug do amazing dupes for high end products, but should you go for the more expensive, but maybe better quality product, or is the cheaper one just as good? In my new series I will be reviewing high end products, VS their drugstore dupes.

Wow, that sounded better in my head. It sounds like the start of a documentary. I'm kicking this series off with mascaras: the infamous Benefit They're Real VS Collection No Clumps.

Benefit They're Real

Brush
The brush on this is really interesting actually. It's hard to explain but its quite long and thin and it has different length bristles all over. It also has a cool part at the end which helps make sure all your lashes are coated.

Quality
This mascara is great. It's quite natural but its very buildable so you can have a natural lash look or you can do a few more coats and look like you are wearing fake lashes. It focuses more on the lengthening than the volumising, but it is marketed for that so I don't think that's a problem.

Packaging
If you couldn't tell from the photo I only have a mini size of this but none the less, the packaging is absolutely gorgeous and pretty similar to the full size. It is silver and it says They're Real on it. It isn't too much like some packaging but it just looks very sleek and sophisticated.

Price
Okay. So the price of this product is quite steep, at £19.50 for the full size.

Rating
Out of five? I would give it four and a half stars.

Collection No Clumps

Brush
The brush on this is pretty similar, apart from it doesn't have the extra bit on the end. It is, again, long and thin, but the bristles are more the same size, instead of alternating long and short ones, like the Benefit one does.

Quality
The quality of this mascara is OUT OF THIS WORLD. It gives so much length, its incredible, as well as giving a whole lot of volume and separation. This is more of an instant mascara, if that makes sense. In some ways thats good but in some ways not so much. With the other one, you can build it up from a natural look to a more dramatic look, whereas with this one, even with one coat, it is quite dramatic, but you can still build it up even more.

Packaging
This is one thing that does disappoint me about this product. Although you basically get what you pay for. It's okay, its just nothing special. As you can tell from the picture its basically just a bit cheap and bright.

Price
The price makes up for the packaging though. It's only £2.99. And it's an AMAZING mascara. For that cheap.

Rating
I would probably give this a 4.75 out of 5 stars.

Now for the big reveal. Which do I prefer? Do I think you should go for the high end, or is the drugstore even better? Well, the second one. This is less than a sixth of the price and just as good quality, if not better. If you're in the market for a new mascara, I would recommend the Collection No Clumps. But if you have more money to spend and are looking for something more luxurious, maybe the Benefit one would be better for you. It really depends on you.
